So many to choose from! – Pennyhill Park spa has something for everyone, from hot stone massages to hi-tec facials. Highlights from Pennyhill’s treatment menu are the ever-popular ‘Spa Massage’, which is tailored to your needs on the day, and focuses on relaxation and relieving muscle tension. Or, you can opt for the state-of-the art oxygen-infusing Diamond Energy Facial by award winning spa brand Natura Bissé, which uses divine Damask rose scented products and ‘diamond nectar serum’, and incorporates a hand and facial massage. This treatment can also be delivered in your own purified air bubble tent, on request.
It’s a hotel of two halves, split between the original 1840-something mansion, and the more modern, and rather less characterful, extension. Decor is traditional, beds are comfortable and furnishings smart, with velvet-swathed four posters in some of the grander luxury and junior suites. Nice touches include being able to select your perfect pillow before you arrive, and Donut the deer, who you put outside door to guard it from the attentions of Room Service.
wining & dining
Pennyhill is strong on the food front too, with two great dining options: Latymer – a Michelin starred (2021) 4AA rosette fine dining restaurant offering modern British cuisine, including a six-course tasting menu for both lunch and dinner, with décor as rich as the food Themis – if you’re in the spa and fancy something fresh and healthy, or a sweet fix, you can enjoy lighter bites, ranging from salads and noodles, to a glass of fizz and a cheeky cream tea – all in the comfort of your robe.
why so spavellous?
The spa is something else – one of just a handful of UK spas that has such a wide range of facilities. There’s no getting away from the fact that Pennyhill Park is pricey, but you do get a lot of spa bang for your buck.
Look out for the England rugby team (their training ground is close to the hotel) Check out room photos online before you book to make sure you’re getting what you want/expect. The rooms aren’t as contemporary as those you find in many 5* hotels now. A great place to go in mid-summer – for the terrace. Or mid-winter – to cosy up in the hot tubs and saunas
‘Thermal Heaven certainly lived up to its name, and some!’ ‘we had to wait a while to get 2 loungers together’ ‘Save for it and go when quiet to make the most of the gorgeous spa’
