A beautiful, adult-only eco-luxe hotel with a relaxed, modern feel, fab food, genuinely eco-friendly ethos, well-designed spa, indulgent ayurvedic spa treatments and those photogenic sea-view hot tubs.
The Scarlet is perched above pretty Mawgan Porth beach, along the coast from Newquay, but a million miles away in terms of calm. The hotel has a chilled, friendly, vibe, and has been cleverly designed to maximise light and sea views, while minimising its environmental impact.

Spa facilities include:
• 13m indoor pool with floor-to-ceiling windows • natural, reed-filtered outdoor pool • pool-side steam room • two cliff-top log-fired hot tubs overlooking the beach, bookable by the half hour • outdoor cedar barrel sauna, again with stunning sea views • lots of relaxation space inside and out, with plenty of comfy seating and suspended cocoon ‘pods’ • 6 treatment rooms, with nurturing tented ceilings • copper bath treatment room in which to enjoy your choice of ‘copper tub treatment’, either alone, or with your chosen spa buddy
There are also complementary wellbeing sessions available to guests, including yoga, Tai Chi and wellness talks.
Spa treatments include a range of ayurvedic massage-based treatment for face and body, including ‘attuned’ personalised ‘journeys’, tailored to your specific needs and problem areas.
And, as if that’s not enough there’s also Hamman and Rhassoul steam room for a good scrub, mud slather and steam, and a large copper bath tub.

Scarlet’s restaurant enjoys the view and offers delicious, modern European dishes using locally and sustainably sourced ingredients. Spa guests can dine in their robes and most dietary requests can be accommodated, as can orders for picnic hampers to enjoy while exploring the local coast and coves.
We ate from the creative Ayurveda-inspired ‘healthy’ menu which included fresh mackerel on sourdough and roasted pineapple with a pokey chilli sauce for dessert. If you’re feeling like something more substantial you can pay to upgrade to the full menu.
