Great Spas for Men

Here’s our pick of UK spas with great male treatments and action that goes beyond the spa.  As recommended by Mr. Spavellous

Art’otel – newcomer Art’otel at the new Battersea Power Station development offers a wow factor rooftop pool overlooking the city as well as treatments by no-nonsense male skincare favourite, Proverb skin.

Guerlain Spa at Raffles London at The OWO – A new super-luxe spa in Westminster’s iconic Old War Offices (OWO) building offers creme de la creme top-end treatments for all, including fabulous express treatments from it’s ground floor Atlelier.

Gleneagles – most people know that it’s pretty decent for golf (understatement!) but there’s an array of other activities too – from salmon fishing to tree climbing – to keep everyone occupied and entertained. And, they’ve just introduced a completely new spa and wellness offering, with something for everyone.

Grove Hotel – another cracking spa and golf combo – this time in Hertfordshire.  With several swanky restaurants and bars, quirky art and an inviting spa and gym.  There’s also the pro football pitch and Ofsted-registered childcare to provide stress-free adult time.

Hilton Garden Inn There aren’t many spas with their own surfing lake, but that’s one of the highlights here, alongside Wave Garden Spa in Snowdonia.  Treatments offered by ethical local brand Tribe517 combine nature with nurture and will appeal to anyone who prefers the relaxation room to the ‘green room’.

Harbour Beach Club – The latest addition to the coastal hotel specialist Harbour Hotel group. Sitting pretty on the edge of Salcombe’s South Sands beach, Harbour Beach Club will appeal to sea swimmers sailing types and lounger lizards alike.

Champneys latest, and first Northern, spa, Mottram Hall.  As well as shiny new facilities for all, the £10m spa in Cheshire has a male spa menu with treatments including the suitably masculine-sounding Elemis High Performance Skin Energise for Men.

Brimstone – a delightfully different, contemporary spa hotel in the Lake District with unisex appeal.  As well as having the delights of the Lakes on its doorstep, there’s also paddle-boarding and mountain biking on offer. The hotel itself is decked with natural materials and slate tones, offers dedicated male treatments, and boasts an awesome outdoor hydro pool with its own roaring fire. Oh, and a dedicated, tweed-clad host team to cater to your every whim.

Scarlet Hotel and and sister property Bedruthan Steps are running new Men’s Mental Health Retreats and breath workshops, with yoga and cold water therapies.  Set in Cornwall’s beautiful Mawgan Porth, these wellness breaks will combine sun (hopefully), sea and spa with wellbeing guidance from experts including former rugby champion Anthony Mullally.

Beaverbrook Hotel offers all-round health and wellbeing advice, specifically tailored to men, in its Men’s Health Day Retreat.  The fact-packed day covers everything from anatomical insights to abdominal massage technique for improved gut health, which you’ll learn to self-administer for ongoing wellness.  This mini retreat in the beautiful Surrey Hills also includes use of Beaverbrook’s lovely Coach House spa, with indoor and outdoor pools, plus a nutritious deli lunch. Men’s facials also feature on the main spa menu with treatments by Proverb Skin.
