Spa Garden at Carden Park

Carden Park Hotel and Spa

The lowdown

An established spa hotel set in the beautiful Cheshire countryside. Carden Park has recently had a major glow up with a blingy new ten-million-pound luxury spa. Best bits include a huge spa garden, and a glamourous Bollinger beauty bar – it’s unrecognisable from its former, understated self. Describing itself as ‘Cheshire’s Country Playground’, Carden has something for everyone – whether it’s a luxurious massage followed by an afternoon in a hot tub sipping fizz, or a round of golf on one of the two championship courses, with a zip-wire chaser.

The spa at Carden is unashamedly blingy. It’s a spa to be seen at – whether in person, propping up the bolly bar, or via your Instagram stories. And, you can choose to book a spa day or stay longer and enjoy a spa staycation. The huge al fresco spa playground is the star of the show, scattered with communal hot tubs, relaxation pods, Bollinger bar, and cosy fire pits. The place has a Love Island-meets-Ibiza vibe, with piped chillout music and – importantly – no children. Inside, the shiny new ten-million-pound spa spans two floors, and has a natural feel, with design elements like a living wall and decadent botanical mosaic cleverly bringing the outside in. Facilities include: • 3 outdoor ‘social’ hot tubs – the perfect setting for a chilled glass of Bolly or two • 5 garden pods – each individually themed • Indoor and outdoor vitality pools • Outdoor Bollinger bar with a beach bar feel • Relaxation rooms • firepits • Finnish sauna – with a fab glass wall overlooking the grounds • Bio sauna • salt steam room – a milder temperature and great for your skin • experience showers • 14 treatment rooms • Elements restaurant • Bollinger Beauty Bar, so you can live your best champagne life while enjoying those all-important finishing touches Product houses include: Elemental Herbology, OSKIA, Made for Life Organics, Mii, Margaret Dabbs and Jessica In addition to the spa there are two impressive championship golf courses, Segway and ‘vertigo’, the new aerial adventure course. Book the Thrill and Chill day to mix action and relaxation.

Treatment highlights

For anyone having trouble deciding between a massage or facial, the Elemental herbology Rejuvenating Ritual is perfect as it combines both, incorporating a tension-relieving back, neck and shoulder massage and a refreshing facial. If it’s more of a social spa experience you’re after, the ‘Afternoon in the Spa Garden’ is perfect, with four hours of Spa Garden fun, plus afternoon tea. Or, if 90 minutes of pure, blissed-out massage sounds like more like your thing, the Five Element Aroma massage should hit the spot perfectly. For die-hard facial fans, we recommend the Oskia signature facial which includes the use of a special LED mask to deliver its beauty benefits. And we can’t not mention the Garden Therapy signature treatment, a top-to-toe 90-minute experience incorporating poultices using herbs from Carden’s own spa garden and topped off with a glass of sparkling wine from their vineyard.

Décor in the main hotel isn’t quite as design-forward as in the spa, but this can be forgiven considering the super-spa. The standard bedrooms are decent enough, but you might want to book one of the luxury suites, overlooking the golf course, if you’re looking to channel a full Real Housewives of Cheshire vibe.

wining & dining

The Vines – Carden Park’s most recent addition offering a gourmet dining experience that’s more in keeping with the new spa style. Redmond’s AA rosette main restaurant – a more traditional hotel-style brasserie serving classics, from burgers and ribeye steak to pasta dishes and Caesar salad. Morgan’s bar mixes a mean cocktail, and serves light bites and afternoon tea, which you can fizz up with a glass of Carden Park’s Estate reserve. Or there’s Jack’s bar at the golf clubhouse Wine and champagne are pretty high profile. As well the Bollinger bar, Carden Park has its own vineyard

why so spavellous?

Carden Park is a proper all-season spa and wellbeing destination. The Spa Garden raises the bar for outdoor spa facilities. It’s also one of the few spas that’s equally equipped for winter spa action. The bubbling outdoor jacuzzis, and roaring fire pits, make it a serious contender for some winter wellbeing, and the treatments are top notch. It’s also a great choice for a group spa day. And, if you fancy some privacy, parts of the changing rooms can be even sectioned off to offer a more exclusive experience.
